College of Teacher Education (CTE) conducts the initial phase of their Community Extension Project called “Building New Literacies” in Brgy. Jubgan, San Francisco, SDN

On September 1, 2020, the CTE Faculty-Extensionists, under the deanship of Dr. Leonielyn Malicay, successfully conducted the initial phase of the Community Extension Project called “Building New Literacies.”

The group of extensionists from CTE first went to Balite NHS to pay courtesy call to the School Principal of Balite NHS, Mr. Alberto Orias, Jr. After a short meeting, the group went to the Mamanwa Community in Brgy. Jubgan where they participated in an ethnic ritual led by their tribe senior, Mr. Bonifacio Rabuya, before focus group discussions were conducted.

One focus group was organized consisting of Grade 7 and 8 learners, two focus groups consisting parents of the learners. Two focus groups were also organized in Balite NHS consisting of teachers handling the Mamanwa learners.

The activity lasted for the whole day, where lunch was served for the participants of the focus groups.
