CAAS Vision, Mission and Goals

The College of Agri-Fisheries and Allied Sciences (CAAS) of Surigao del Norte State University – Malimono Campus offers agri-fisheries and allied sciences programs namely; Bachelor of Science in Fisheries (BSFi), Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology (BSMB), Bachelor of Agriculture Technology (BAT), and Bachelor of Science in Agroforestry (BSAF).

To be a leading institution in agricultural, fisheries, and allied sciences that fosters innovation, sustainability, and the empowerment of communities through training.

Mission

To provide high quality education and training in agricultural, fisheries, and allied sciences, advancement of knowledge and practices through cutting edge research, promote sustainable development and improve livelihood for communities.

Goals

Confer a comprehensive education and training: Equip students with knowledge, skills, and ethical values for successful agriculture, fisheries, forestry and allied sciences careers;

Administer cutting-edge research to develop sustainable technologies and practices; and promote collaborative research project with national and international institutions and industry partners, and

Advance extension programs that address the practical needs of farmers, fishers, and allied industries:

Support environmental stewardship and the improvement of rural and coastal community livelihood

OBE Framework

The College of Agri-fisheries and Allied Sciences is dedicated to provide quality education through an Outcome-based Education (OBE) framework based on the requirements stipulated in CMO No. 33, Series of 2021 for the Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, CMO No. 46, Series 2017 for the Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology, CMO No. 23, Series of 2021 for the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, and CMO No. 09, Series of 2016 for the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Forestry.

The BS Fisheries program equips the graduates in the areas of sustainable aquaculture, responsible capture fisheries, post-harvest fisheries and aquatic resources and ecology. The BS Marine Biology program develops graduates who will have a clear recognition and understanding of marine life and the ecosystem. The BS in Agriculture curriculum aims to educate students in the scientific habit of thought and entrepreneurial skills and prepare them to become globally competitive professionals with entry-level competencies. The graduates of the BS Forestry program should be able to practice the profession with competence and integrity in promoting sustainable management of forest resources and ecosystem services and conservation of soil, water, and biodiversity.

Admission Requirements

4 year BSFi, BSMB, BAT, BSAF– an average grade of 85% and must pass the entrance exam.
