๐๐ถ๐ญ๐บ 31, 2025 – The launching program continued at the MEIC site at Km. 8 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the unveiling of the MEIC-SNSU marker by DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. and the University President, Dr. Rowena A. Plando witnessed by the DOST Officials, Congresswoman Bernadette Barbers represented by Ms. Liza Monteros, Government Lyndon S. Barbers represented by Atty. Rise Faith Recabo, and the SNSU family. This was followed by a guided facility tour led by the Research Director and MEIC Focal, Mr. Ruel T. Buba.
Generously funded by DOST-PCIEERD, the MEIC-Caraga is an innovative hub for our entire region. The University is committed to fostering groundbreaking innovation, conducting vital research, and nurturing essential skills development. With the strong support from the province of Surigao del Norte and LGU- Surigao City, the center will soon be conducting more trainings to equip stakeholders with the knowledge and skills that will contribute significantly to the progress of the community. It shall provide a comprehensive range of services, truly supporting innovation and development in Surigao City and the entire Caraga. With the MEIC-Caraga, SNSU can now offer a wider array of services that align perfectly with the vision of the province of Surigao del Norte and all Caraganons, particularly in the areas of research, innovation, and extension services.
Secretary Solidum described the center as the biggest in the country.
The MEIC’s launch marks a bold step toward a more innovative, skilled, and empowered Caraga. The center stands as a catalyst for inclusive growth, stronger industries, and a future shaped by research, innovation, and meaningful collaboration.
