In preparation for the new general education curriculum and CHED’s framework for outcomes-based education that will take effect starting Academic Year 2018-2019, Surigao State College of Technology conducted a curriculum review and revision on February 9, 2018 at the Parkway Hotel, spearheaded by President Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa, Jr. and Dr.Ronita E. Talingting, VicePresident for Academic Affairs.
CHED Education specialists, Deans, Program Chairs, Industry Experts, DepEd Representatives, Student Leaders and Parents took part in the said curriculum review to explore the particular needs, interests, and circumstances of SSCT students and community.
Speaking on behalf of CHED Caraga Regional Director Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo, Engr. Ramil Sanchez said that the curriculum is at the heart of every academic institution and he found the initiative of SSCT to conduct a curriculum review a commendable one.
Parallel sessions were conducted per program with CHED supervisors providing input and guidance. The other resource persons likewise offered feedbacks and suggestions for SSCT to be updated on the various skills students must possess to meet the needs and demands of the industry.
Meanwhile, Dr. Talingting, college deans, and program chairs of SSCT also attended the Caraga HEIs Reorientation Workshop on Curricular Revision at Balanghai Hotel in Butuan City on March 13, 2018.
