The months-long document preparation to keep the ISO 9001:2015 certification paid off as a result of the rigorous evaluation of the 3-day Surveillance Audit in the City, Malimono, and Mainit campuses conducted by the international certification body SOCOTEC on January 18-20, 2023.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Rowena A. Plando, Vice President for Administration, shared the importance of the activity and that it is “for the auditor to periodically review our Quality Management System (QMS) processes and ensure that SSCT now SNSU is still meeting the key elements of the ISO standards”.
The certifying body’s representatives Engr. Marisse P. Cruz, lead auditor, and Engr. Ma. Fatima D. Mercurio, support auditor, assessed the university’s conformity to global standards by examining the processes and quality goals in these areas: Operations (academics), Bids and Awards Committee, Maintenance, Ancillary Services, Laboratories, Management Review, and Internal Audit.
During the closing meeting, Engr. Cruz gave the highlight of the activity by presenting the audit findings. Among the positive findings, she commended the awareness and the knowledge of the personnel to the university’s processes and QMS and the immediate response of the management to the suffering caused by super typhoon Odette in December 2021 which “evidently shows the resiliency and commitment to continuously provide quality service to their interested parties”.
With zero major nonconformance and only two (2) minor nonconformances, the lead auditor, Engr. Cruz delightfully declared that SNSU is granted continued ISO certification.
Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa, the University President, assured the SOCOTEC auditors for SNSU to maintain and uphold the quality standards as “we continue to strive and work hard to do the observations and the minor noncorformances”. He further expressed his deepest gratitude to the external auditors and to all whose dedication to the university’s endeavors, such as this Surveillance Audit, is truly one to be proud of.
