SNSU CONDUCTS GENERAL ORIENTATION ON INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION

Spearheaded by the office of the Director for Quality Assurance and Management System, the 2-day Institutional Accreditation (IA) Orientation by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc., was participated by the university officials, designated faculty members, and non-teaching personnel held on April 22-23, 2024 at the SNSU Gymnasium.

IA assesses the mission, resources, and effectiveness of the entire University. The activity acquainted the participants with the IA process and the required documents.

Dr. Milabel E. Ho, AACCUP Executive Director, discussed the IA General Polices, Guidelines, and Requirements. She encouraged institutions “to not wait when feel ready, but be ready and apply for this type of accreditation.” She went on saying, “Don’t wait for things to happen, make it happen! IA when acquired, generates benefits on matters of fund allocation, leveling, and rationalization.”

Dr. Lawrence Anthony U. Dollente, QA Center Director of University of Southern Mindanao, introduced the Outcomes-Based Instrument of various key areas. The key standards and its parameters upon which the institution will be evaluated are: Area I – Governance and Management; Area II – Teaching, Learning & Evaluation; Area III- Faculty and Staff; Area IV – Research; Area V – Extension, Consultancy and Linkages; Area VI – Support to Students; Area VII –Library; Area VIII – Infrastructure and Other Learning Resources; Area IX – Quality Assurance Culture.

During the workshop, participants answered the parameters in their respective areas based on their assessment of the institution’s existing systems, documentation and evidences. Parameters were determined on system-inputs and resources, implementation, outcomes, and Best Practices. The three resource speakers then critiqued the outputs presented by each group/area.

Mr. Dominic T. Martinez, Head of the IT unit of AACCUP, shared the last topic Uploading, Digitization of IA Documents.
