Reflecting on the past and planning for the future, President Gregorio Z. Gamboa, Jr. delivered his College Performance Review on January 12, 2018 at the City Cultural Center. The event was attended by members of the Academic and Administrative Council.
The president, through a powerpoint presentation, enumerated the different milestones that SSCT has so far achieved in the aspects of Governance, Faculty Development, Research and Extension, Student Development, and Linkages.
In the aspect of governance, the President cited the new organizational structure that was approved by the Board of Trustees, revisions of the College Code and other Institutional Manuals. In 2017, SSCT hired permanent fortyone (41), thirty (30) temporary instructors and five (5) permanent non-teaching employees.
In research, SSCT is a part of the CHED’s Discovery Applied Research and Extension for Trans-interdisciplinary Opportuniteis or DARE TO project with a budget of PhP 11,564,000.00. The said RDE Program which SSCT is President Gamboa Delivers College Performance Review undertaking with Caraga State University, seeks to establish a Sustainable Community-Based Ecosystem Approach for the Conservation of Lake Mainit. SSCT Del Carmen Campus also signed MOA with LGU del Carmen, People’s Survival Fund, Climate Change Commission regarding the establishment of Siargao Climate Field School for Farmers & Fisherfolks.
As to infrastructure,on-going is the construction of the P90 million SSCT gymnasium, Phase 1 of the Science Building, and the renovation of the five-storey Commercial and Engineering Building. According to Pres. Gamboa, The College also hopes to purchase a land at Km. 8, Brgy. Bonifacio as part of SSCT’s expansion plan.
President Gamboa also emphasized the need to seek higher accreditation level status for most curricular programs to fast track SSCT’s application for universityhood.
He also thanked everyone for the support they have been giving his administration and called on them to work harmoniously for the success of the institution.
