OSHH Conducts a 5-Day on-site Face-to- Face Training for Safety Officers BOSH FOR PUBLIC SECTOR
The Occupational Safety and Health Center in coordination with Surigao Norte State University- Occupational Safety, Health and Hazards (SNSU-OSHH) Office conducted a 40 – Hour On-site Face-to- Face Training for Safety Officers BOSH FOR PUBLIC SECTOR which was participated in by 36 SNSU University personnel on April 15-19, 2024 held at Rejulzhalem EY Miner Suites, Borromeo Branch, Barangay Taft, Surigao City. A registration of 5,500.00 for each participant inclusive of morning and afternoon snacks and lunch for 5 days which was charged to local funds of the university and was approved by SNSU University President, Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa, Jr.
The BOSH Training was initiated by SNSU-OSHH Office’s Focal Person, Manuel R. Arcon. The SNSU-OSH&H office has a primary mandate that faculty and staff possess OSH knowledge and have functional roles in the development and execution of safety procedures inside the university premises. After the 5-day training workshop, the 36 BOSH trainees can be utilized as members of the Safety and Health Committee in their respective campus. They will become licensed safety officers after the BOSH Training. The training was in compliance with CSC-DOH-DOLE Joint Memorandum Circular No1, series of 2020 (Occupational Safety and Health Standard for Public Sector).
“The aim of the activity is to equip the OSH&H Safety and Health Committee of each campus with proper education, technique, strategies and training in basic occupational safety and occupational health. It will also enhance each safety officers’ skill in identifying types of hazards in their stations/ workplace and enable to eliminate and control it. Thus, assuring the safety of life and property in their respective campuses. After this training-seminar all participants will become certified safety officers and become members of the Safety and Health Committee of the campus which they belonged to”, Arcon disclosed.
