DOST-SNSU WAVES TBI, together with SNSU’s equally significant research and innovation centers, joined the final leg of Caraga Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2023-2028 Caravan that was held today at the Surigao City Gymnasium to better inform Surigaonons and Dinagatnons of the regions roadmap towards sustainable development and align priorities to the RDP’s industrialization and innovation on fishery, agro-forestry, mining and eco-tourism (i2FAME) strategy.

SNSU’s VP for Administration Dr. Rowena A. Plando pledged support to contribute to the attainment of RDP targets in behalf of the university president Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa Jr. She reaffirmed the stance of the university to hone local talents and propel innovation in the region. Moreover, our innovation champion VP-RIE Dr. Romy Jun A. Sunico similarly showed his all out support to the CRDP Caravan, its organizers and all exhibitors, especially cheering for the food innovations displayed by SNSU faculty members that are treasured university IPs. Further, SNSU’s college deans including COT Dean Dr. Marilou B. Carnicer, CTE Dean Dr. Carmelin Mosa and CAS Dean Dr. Louida Patac were some of the notable SNSU Board of Management members in the crowd.

The DOST-SNSU WAVES TBI also made their existence known to all caravan participants and potential partners through a short presentation delivered by Ms. Stephinejane E. Musico, in behalf of the TBI Manager Dr. Arvin E. Mag-usara. A call for partners was also made as the TBI strongly believes in the tenets of collaboration and sustainability.

With this, the DOST-SNSU WAVES TBI is fervently grateful to Director Gemima A. Olam of NEDA-Caraga and her team, Hon. Governor Robert Lyndon Barbers of the Province of Surigao del Norte, Hon. Governor Nilo P. Demerey Jr. of the Province of Dinagat Islands , Hon. Mayor Pablo Yves β€œPaul” Dumlao II of the City of Surigao, and Regional Director Noel M. Ajoc of DOST-Caraga, for the opportunity to share the good news of how we can extend tangible support to our startups in Caraga Region as part of our commitment to champion the targets set in the CRDP 2023-2028.

Most importantly, we would like to thank our University President Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa Jr. for steering the wheel of innovation and development in the university to better serve the Surigaonons and the Caraga region population.
