UGMAD – PAGPAMUHI UG BISAYANG MANOK

On December 6, 2024, the “UGMAD: PAGPAMUHI UG BISAYANG MANOK” extension program was successfully conducted in collaboration with the Campus Coordinator for Extension Services, Mr. Aljon C. Judilla, and Technical Staff, Ms. Airish P. Oraliza. The event commenced with an inspiring keynote message delivered by resource speaker Mr. Ian Kin T. Paler, Program Chair of the BAT Program, who shared valuable insights on native chicken farming with the attendees from Barangay Bongdo, San Benito. The native chicken raising project aimed to promote sustainable farming practices, enhance food security, and provide an additional source of income for the community. The primary objectives of the project were to raise native chickens for meat and egg production, provide training on sustainable poultry farming, improve household incomes through poultry-related sales, and establish partnerships with local agricultural offices for technical support and local markets for distribution. The program provided affordable eggs and chicken meat to the local community, improving food availability and nutrition. It also encouraged households to start their own poultry projects, fostering self-sufficiency and boosting household incomes. The initiative was seen as a step toward the long-term sustainability of poultry farming in the area.

The event featured a seminar and a formal turnover of chickens and agricultural products to Barangay Bongdo officials. Key stakeholders, including SNSU CAAS faculty and selected BAT students, participated in the activity, underscoring the university’s commitment to community outreach and development. The program concluded with positive feedback from the participants, who expressed gratitude for the training and support provided. The project has been commended for fostering self-reliance and enhancing economic opportunities in the community, marking another milestone in the university’s extension efforts.
