The Dental Healthcare Program, held on November 5, 2024, at the Baybay Magallanes Child Development Center, aimed to promote proper oral hygiene practices among young children. The event brought together faculty members, BPED students, and children from the school, under the leadership of Ma’am Marijul B. Jovero, with Dr. Jean Paul Daryle Garcia as the attending dentist.
The program began at 8:30 AM with an opening prayer led by Daniel Seth Layug, which set a warm and respectful tone for the event. Ma’am Marijul B. Jovero then delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of dental health and the value of maintaining proper oral hygiene from a young age. Following this, Sir Balme M. Diva introduced Dr. Garcia, who presented an engaging discussion on proper tooth-brushing techniques and how to care for one’s teeth. Dr. Garcia’s session was interactive, aiming to educate children on the best practices to ensure long-lasting dental health.
The main activity was a hands-on tooth-brushing session, where Ma’am Marijul B. Jovero, BPED students, and the BPED instructors actively assisted both Dr. Garcia and the children. They supported Dr. Garcia by helping demonstrate correct brushing techniques, ensuring each child received individual guidance and attention. They also took on roles as mentors, working one-on-one with the children to reinforce Dr. Garcia’s instructions and assist them with their toothbrushes during the session. This hands-on approach allowed the children to gain confidence and learn the importance of maintaining their oral health.
