The Seminar-Workshop on Physical Fitness, First Aid, and Life Support was held on December 16, 2024, at the SNSU Learning Resource Center as part of the “Adopt a Daycare Center” Extension Program. Organized to equip child development workers with essential skills in first aid, life support, and physical activities for preschoolers, the event emphasized the College of Teacher Education’s dedication to empowering educators and strengthening early childhood education practices.
The program commenced at 8:00 AM with the arrival and registration of participants, followed by an opening prayer and the National Anthem. Dr. Carmelín Puracan Mosa, Dean of the College of Teacher Education, welcomed the attendees and highlighted the program’s role in professional development and its impact on holistic child growth. Dr. Lucille G. Tanguihan, Program Chair for the BEED, acknowledged the presence of faculty, stakeholders, and participants, emphasizing the collective efforts needed to achieve the seminar’s goals.
Miss Alvie Elma C. Plaza, Director of Extension Services, delivered an inspiring message, underscoring the importance of extension programs in bridging education and community service. Miss Ailyn B. Caba, Program Chair of BSED Mathematics, then introduced the speakers, setting the tone for the sessions that followed.
Dr. Romel Dela Cruz, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management focal person, led the first session on first aid and life support. Participants were trained in wound care, basic emergency response, and life-saving measures, with Dr. Dela Cruz stressing the importance of swift action during emergencies.
In the next session, Dr. Balme M. Diva, a faculty member in Physical Education, conducted an interactive workshop on implementing physical activities for preschoolers. The session focused on enhancing motor skills, coordination, and overall physical development through engaging, hands-on demonstrations. The seminar-workshop brought together distinguished speakers, educators, and participants in a shared mission to enhance teaching practices and promote safety and physical fitness in early childhood education.
