Orientation Program for Adopt-A-Hectare Initiative at SNSU Learning Resource Center

 

On November 7, 2024, an orientation program for the second year of the “Adopt-A-Hectare” extension initiative was held at the Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) Learning Resource Center. The event aimed to prepare participants for the scheduled tree-planting activities at the Surigao Watershed Resource Reserve. The program focused on promoting environmental stewardship by planting trees within the designated hectares of the reserve. Participants included program leaders, faculty members, forestry officers, and students from various sectors, highlighting broad support for the initiative.

Dr. Lucille G. Tanguihan delivered an engaging presentation on “Responsible Climbing at the Watershed Resource Reserve.” She emphasized eco-friendly and mindful practices when interacting with natural environments, encouraging participants to consider their environmental impact.

Mr. Elmer R. Causing provided a technical session on accurate methods for measuring the diameter and height of planted trees, equipping participants with essential skills for the monitoring phase.

Certificates of participation were awarded, with Ms. Marijul B. Jovero, CTE Extension Coordinator, managing the distribution. Ms. Maria Fe C. Guerra, SAO Director, delivered the closing remarks, officially concluding the first day of the orientation. The event was well-coordinated and smoothly executed, with Mr. Ervin John G. Aram and Ms. Kharyle Awit serving as Masters of Ceremony. Their effective moderation ensured the program remained engaging and informative, leaving participants motivated and prepared for the next phases of the environmental initiative.
