E-Commerce and POS Training Program Empowers Barangay Trinidad Residents

The month of September 2024 marked a significant milestone for the residents of Barangay Trinidad as they completed a comprehensive training program on e-commerce and point-of-sale (POS) applications. The initiative, led by the College of Engineering and Information Technology in partnership with local government officials, aimed to equip participants with essential digital skills for business growth and efficiency.

The training began on September 7, 2024, with Dr. Fernandez leading an engaging orientation that emphasized the importance of safety in digital transactions. Participants were introduced to key concepts related to e-commerce and POS systems, focusing on secure practices to protect customer data from online threats such as phishing, malware, and data breaches. The session highlighted the need for responsible use of digital platforms to ensure seamless and secure business operations.

On September 14, 2024, the program delved deeper into practical applications, with Ms. Jessa Hambre facilitating a session on knowledge development. Participants explored popular e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, and BigCommerce, learning how to optimize these tools to fit their business needs. Hambre’s session empowered attendees to understand the unique features of each platform, enabling them to make informed decisions for their online enterprises. The hands-on component of the training took center stage on September 21, 2024, when Mr. Antonio Jr. L. Piloton, MIT, conducted a live demonstration of e-commerce and POS systems. The session provided participants with a chance to apply their newly acquired knowledge in real-time scenarios, enhancing their skills in sales tracking, inventory management, and customer interaction. Interactive activities kept the participants engaged, fostering a collaborative learning environment. The program culminated on September 28, 2024, with individual presentations from the trainees, guided by Engr. Catherine M. Verallo. Participants confidently demonstrated their ability to navigate e-commerce and POS applications, showcasing the progress they had made throughout the program. The presentations reflected not only their technical proficiency but also their enthusiasm for adopting modern business tools.

The culmination event also included a recognition ceremony, attended by Barangay Captain Jovelyn G. Pecho, who commended the participants for their dedication and hard work. Certificates of completion were awarded to the trainees, celebrating their achievements and encouraging them to apply their newfound skills in their entrepreneurial ventures. The success of the training program was evident in the positive feedback from participants, who lauded the practical relevance of the sessions. Organizers and resource speakers were praised for their commitment to making the training informative and accessible. The program’s conclusion marked not just the end of a series of workshops but the beginning of new opportunities for Barangay Trinidad residents to thrive in the digital economy.
