College of Teacher Education (CTE) gears up for the implementation of their Community Extension Project for the empowerment of Mamanwa learners

The CTE faculty, under the leadership of Dr. Leonielyn Malicay, Dean of CTE, gathered on August 27, 2020, to prepare for the initial phase of the implementation of their Community Extension Project called “Building New Literacies.” The project is intended to address academic difficulties and build 21st Century literacies of Mamanwa learners attending Balite NHS, and their parents and their teachers.

The purpose of the gathering was to get oriented with how to conduct focus group discussions and how to analyze focus group data. The peer group learning session was facilitated by Mr. Raymon P. Española, Overall CTE Extension Coordinator, where he presented the basics on focus group facilitation and basic qualitative analysis.

The initial phase of the CTE Community Extension Project is to conduct focus group discussion on the experiences and learning needs of Mamanwa learners, their parents and teachers.
