The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between SSCT Mainit Campus Extension Services and its partner agency -the Local Government Units of Surigao del Norte were signed on March 25, 2022 at the SSCT-Mainit Campus Biodiversity Building. The event forged an official agreement to a comprehensive partnership for extension engagements with three municipalities: The Municipality of Mainit, Municipality of Tubod, and the Municipality of Alegria epitomized by the respective barangay officials.
The event was graced by the presence of the College president, Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa Jr, Vice president for Research and Extensions, Dr. Mauricio A. Adlaon, Director for SSCT Extension Services, Ms. Alvie Elma C. Plaza, and Extension Coordinator Mr. Arman N. Bermon. The distinguished honorable officials of LGU was warmly welcomed by the whole SSCT-Mainit Campus led by its Campus Director, Mr. Edwin C. Escobal.
SSCT-Mainit Extension Coordinator, Mr. Arman N. Bermon, introduced the respective party officials, participants and also highlighted five extension projects in partnership with the following barangays such as:
• Feed Innovation for Native Chicken Farming to be implemented to Brgy. Pungtod, Alegria, SDN with Mr. Albino N. Taer as the project leader.
• The Alternative Feeding And Ethno-Veterinary Medicine In Native Chicken Farming to be implemented to Brgy.Cawilan, Tubod, SDN; Plant Orchard Nursery Enterprise to be implemented to Brgy. Gamuton, Alegria, SDN with Ms. Erma C. Taer as the project leader.
• An Integrated Approach to Environmental Sanitation, Food Processing and Sustainable Vegetable Backyard Gardening to be implemented to Brgy.Marayag, Brgy. Cantugas, Brgy. Bobonaon, Mainit, SDN with Ms. Joanna P. Feril the BTLED Department-Extension Focal.
• Showcasing Mushroom Farming Technology For Utilization And Adoption In The Municipality of Mainit, Surigao Del Norte to be implemented to Brgy. Roxas,Brgy. Magpayang, Brgy. Paco, Brgy. Quezon, Brgy. Magsaysay, and Brgy. Mabini, Mainit, SDN with Ms. Mary Amor G. Figueroa as the project leader.
Each extension projects holds a positive output abundant with productive results for change and improvement which aspires to share knowledge and transfer innovations and technologies to improve their livelihood and income-generation especially during pandemic and the aftermath-effects of Bagyong Odette.
The MOA was impeccably completed through the Pledge of Commitment given by the Barangay Captains of the respective partnered barangays.“Mapasalamaton kami sa mga tabang na nahatag nan SSCT, labi na isa ang among barangay sa napili para sa niining programa. Dako na tabang sa ini sa mga katawhan sa among barangay”,shared by Hon. Claro S. Beltran, Punong-barangay of Brgy. Mabini.
The event was also adorned by the full support of the Municipal Agriculturist of Mainit, Surigao del Norte, Ms. Laarni R. Moyon, “Salamat karajaw SSCT sa inyong suporta sa komunidad”, shared by Ms. Moyon.
Indeed, SSCT’s commitment to continue supporting the community to become productive is our way to express our desire to continue this extension engagement seeing –a prolific community.
As stated by Dr. Gregorio Z. Gamboa the College President, “SSCT will always be there, para mutabang, mag assister sa inyong mga pinaagi aning mga programa. Maghinaot ko na kining panagtigom nato sinugdanan ra ni sa umaabot ug sa madaghan pang panagtigom para sa kaayuhan sa inyong mga barangay”.
Truly, the leadership of SSCT’s members for extension pushed great achievements in realizing important development programs for extension in SSCT Mainit Campus.
