SNSU Opens Academic Year 2025–2026 with Warm Welcome and Renewed Commitment to Excellence

August 18, 2025 – Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) officially opened its first day of classes for Academic Year 2025–2026 with an inspiring message from University President Dr. Rowena A. Plando, joined by the Vice Presidents, College Deans, University Officials, Teaching, and Non-teaching personnel.

In her address, Dr. Plando warmly welcomed both returning students and freshmen. She emphasized SNSU’s strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and holistic well-being, assuring learners that the university remains dedicated to providing meaningful learning experiences, opportunities for growth, and comprehensive support throughout their journey. She further encouraged students to be curious, innovative, and resilient in facing the challenges of higher education.

A highlight of the program was the oath-taking of 25 newly hired teaching personnel and 36 non-teaching staff, officially welcomed into the SNSU family following their appointment approved by the Board of Trustees on August 7, 2025, at the CHED Central Office, Manila, during the 12th Regular Board of Regents Meeting.

Dr. Plando underscored that both students and personnel are guided by the university’s core values of integrity, competence, and respect, along with the 8-Point Agenda and LINGAS Framework, which steer SNSU’s initiatives in academic excellence, global engagement, sustainability, and holistic student development.

“We need your passion, dedication, and collaborative spirit to ensure that SNSU thrives as a leading institution committed to progress and service,” Dr. Plando reminded.

The opening ceremony set the tone for a year of growth, collaboration, and shared commitment as SNSU continues to pursue its vision of inclusive growth and empowered lives for a sustainable future, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education
  • SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
